Supported by Streetart Istanbul Sophia Hirsch and i painted murals in Istanbul.
Karaköy is a small quarter in 'Istanbuis Neukölln', Beyoğlu, with view over the water to the Hagia Sophia mosque. It looks like a big DIY store spread over the whole quarter. Every second store sells chains, tools, ankers, buoys and stuff. Sophia Hirsch and i painted this nice wall - and the whole neighbourhood took care of us. The paint shop provided equiped us with painting shirts, the buoy and anker store offered us Dürüm and Ayran and the street tea seller invited us for tea.
And when we were just about to finish the Imam passed by to say hello and shake hands.
From painting all the hall of fames i am used to overpaint existing wall paintings, so we covered a graffiti style by Istanbul local 'Mr. Hure' – and just the next day he repainted his style on the place it was before, producing a semi collaborative mural.
The other day i went from the European side to the Asian part of Istanbul, to Kadiköy. Again supported by Erbil, from Streetart Istanbul, organizing this wall for me.
Would have loved to have more time for this friendly city.
